Get more precision with this chromatic handpan
Unlike most handpans, which use diatonic, hexatonic, or pentatonic scales, this model is tuned to a chromatic scale. That means it includes all 12 notes within an octave. So you'll find the 7 standard notes (C, D, E, F, G, A, and B), plus 5 accidentals (sharps or flats). This lets musicians and percussionists play more nuanced melodies. The tradeoff is that the notes are very close together, since only a semitone separates them. As a result, this 14-note chromatic handpan can’t really be played intuitively in the same way as models tuned to specific scales such as Kurd or Pygmy. This instrument is best suited to connoisseurs with a clearly defined musical project. Treat yourself to this magnificent stainless steel handpan to refine your compositions.

Play without fear: all the notes are accurate on the handpan
With the handpan, it’s impossible to play a wrong note. Each tone field is tuned to produce sounds that harmonize with each other, regardless of the order or rhythm you choose. This unique feature encourages beginners to improvise freely, without fear of dissonance. From your very first strikes, coherent melodies emerge naturally, giving you confidence and the desire to explore further. The instrument was designed to encourage intuitive playing, as Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer intended when they created the Hang in 2000. By letting yourself be carried away by the vibrations and possible combinations, you will quickly discover a vast and inspiring world of sound. Even without music theory, you will be able to construct captivating rhythmic patterns and melodic sequences. Express yourself freely with an instrument that never plays a wrong note and let your creativity flourish with ease. Pick up your handpan now and start playing without fear.
Combine the handpan with other instruments for a sonic journey
The handpan does not stand alone in the world of relaxation instruments. On specialty sites like Mon Bol Tibétain, you will discover other complementary instruments: the 15-note steel tongue drum, Tibetan tingsha cymbals, the crystal harp, and the therapeutic tuning fork. Combined with the handpan, these instruments enrich your practice by adding new sound textures. For example, Tibetan cymbals produce high-pitched chimes that blend with the low notes of the handpan, while the crystal harp creates ethereal resonances that extend the vibration. Therapists often use this mix to create complete sound therapy sessions, where each instrument helps open a chakra or rebalance energy. By exploring these combinations, you can personalize your meditation or yoga ritual and find the soundscape that suits you. It's also an opportunity to teach your loved ones the importance of sound diversity in art therapy. Understand the idiophone classification and how the handpan is made
Unlike a traditional drum, the handpan belongs to the idiophone family and is classified under index 111.24 in the Hornbostel–Sachs system, as a percussion vessel. Its construction is based on two deeply embossed and nitrided steel shells, glued together with a special resin to form a resonant cavity. On the upper part, a central bump called the “ding” accommodates seven to nine sound fields tuned to a fundamental, an octave, and a compound fifth. Each note is adjusted with a hammer, and the whole instrument is calibrated by a serial number engraved on the inside, certifying its authenticity. A brass ring can be added to reinforce its strength. Unlike membranophones such as djembes or tablas, no stretched material vibrates—the entire metal emits the sound. This connection with musical vases highlights the evolution of the handpan, descended from Indian ghatams and Caribbean steelpans. Experience this fusion of technology and tradition by choosing an instrument from our idiophones and percussion vessels.
