Which handpan is compatible with the video lessons?

The video training is suitable for all handpans, regardless of the number of notes or the scale they’re tuned to. The course is structured into 16 clear, beginner-friendly modules, so even if you’ve never studied music theory, you can follow along easily. Kim shares his expertise on posture, touch, and tone exploration while introducing a wide variety of exercises: scale runs up and down, hand independence, 4/4 rhythms, chords, and volume control. You’ll build flow, consistency, and creativity with progressive rhythm concepts and practical tips to enrich your playing. The videos are designed to be interactive, inviting you to practise along with Kim as he occasionally gives you instructions to follow. Can I play all the scores with my handpan?

The sheet music has been written to be played on a 9- or 10-note handpan in D Kurd (D minor). All melodies intended for a 9-note handpan can be played on an instrument with 9 notes or more. All melodies intended for a 10-note handpan can be played on an instrument with 10 notes or more. In this collection, you’ll find 12 songs for 9-note handpans and 13 for 10-note handpans. That means with a 10-note (or larger) handpan, you can play all 25 songs in this book. With a 9-note handpan, you’ll only be able to play 12. For handpans in other scales, it may be possible to transpose the songs in order to play them as well.
