Enjoy the Equinox scaleâs dynamism and versatility for your next handpan!
Treat yourself to an excellent Equinox handpan
The Equinox scale features just 6 distinct notes spread across multiple octaves instead of the usual 7. That âmissingâ note brings a darker, more mysterious, introspective character to the melodies youâll play on this hand-played percussion instrument. And the name isnât random: while the tone can lean shadowy, it can quickly open up into something clear and luminousâlike an equinox. Its enveloping, fluid resonance naturally supports deep relaxation, mindfulness, and mental calm, making it a favourite for meditation or yoga. And if you love playing for others, an Equinox scale handpan is a great choice: versatile, expressive, and impossible to ignore on stage. Take your playing to the next level and order this handpan from our online store today.

Let your handpan dialogue with Indian classical music at Vivaan
Vivaan, Indiaâs first handpan festival, usually takes place in February at the Shoonya Farm Retreat in Belgaum, offering a complete immersion in handpan music and Indian traditions. Organized by Dipak Thakkar, a leading figure in MusiCurry and founder of the Handpan India Community since 2017, the event features concerts by Pt. Ronu Majumdar (flute), Aditya Kalyanpur (tabla), and Martin Dubois (kora and overtone singing), as well as performances by Jeremy Nattagh, Carola Ortiz (clarinet), and Tatsunori Hara. Concurrently, workshops on raga singing, body percussion, and instrument making invite participants to explore the roots of Indian music. Rounding out the experience are opportunities to explore local crafts and savour traditional cuisine. Thanks to its light, compact design, your handpan is easy to transport, inviting you to join intercultural exchangesâwhether thatâs jamming under the palm trees or participating in meditation sessions at sunset. Bring your handpan along and experience this unique fusion of innovation and tradition firsthand.
Learn how the term handpan caught on over time
Although the original term for this musical instrument is "Hang," it was invented by the company PANArt in the early 2000s. Once the name was trademarked, a whole new lexicon developed around the instrument. In 2007, Kyle Cox of Pantheon Steel proposed the name "handpan," which has since become the standard term for this percussion instrument. Other makers also tried giving it their own names: "Pantam" was chosen by an Israeli distributor, while others coined "OVNI Drum" or "Spacedrum." In every case, itâs essentially the same instrument shape. This explosion of names is a sign of just how popular the handpan has become. So treat yourself to a handpan and share its story with everyone around you.

Organize an intimate and unforgettable handpan concert at home
Organize an intimate and unforgettable handpan concert in your home by inviting a few friends for a warm, musical evening. Set up your instrument in the centre of the living room, ideally on a stable cushion, and play mesmerizing patterns in a low-lit atmosphere. You can pair the handpan with soft lighting or a visual projection to deepen the mood. To enrich the performance, offer a duet with a cellist or flutist, or invite a percussionist for light accompaniment. Some artists also host interactive concerts where the audience is invited to gently tap the instrument, creating a unique participatory experience. By preparing a short playlist of your favourite pieces and varying the dynamics, you can captivate your audience without complicated gear. This format is especially appreciated in small spaces, such as apartments or small meeting rooms. Organize an intimate handpan concert in your home and order your instrument to start your musical program today.
