Be amazed by a mini handpan
When it comes to handpans, size isn’t necessarily the deciding factor in finding a high-quality model with beautiful acoustics. In fact, some lightweight and compact instruments can sound just as impressive as larger diameters. Here, we offer an excellent mini handpan with a 45 cm (18 in) diameter, tuned to a G minor scale. The advantage of an instrument like this, beyond its more accessible price, is its portability, since it weighs about 1 kg (2 lb 3.3 oz) on average and is roughly 10 cm (4 in) smaller than a standard handpan. That makes it easy to take your precious instrument out into nature to play a few melodies or bring it to festivals to share a great musical moment with others. Made of stainless steel, this small handpan is a concentrated dose of harmonious vibrations, just waiting to be explored by a curious percussionist. Be that percussionist and add this instrument to your cart now.

Combine handpans and steel tongue drums for unique jams
The handpan’s unparalleled portability really shines when paired with instruments like the tongue drum, as Jonathan Belval showcased at the PANiaque Handpan Festival in Québec. During this 10th edition from May 17–19, each participant with the $185 package gets a dorm bed, included meals, and access to late-night jam sessions around the fire, where tongue drums and handpans trade phrases under the stars. Compact and lightweight, the handpan slips easily into a backpack so you can jump into impromptu jams, hatha yoga and slackline workshops led by Amélie F.-Roy, or open mics like those at the Swiss Handpan Festival in Wetzikon. The handpan/tongue drum duo creates a fresh harmonic and rhythmic dimension. Combine your handpan with tongue drums to enrich your improvisations and enjoy this instrumental synergy as you explore new sound horizons. Order your handpan today and dive into this creative experience.
Integrate the frequencies of the handpan into your daily yoga sessions
The handpan, sometimes described as a sound-convection idiophone, is a Swiss innovation created in 2000 in the heart of the Alps near Bern, thanks to the ingenuity of Félix Rohner and Sabrina Schärer. Inspired by the Indian ghatam, the Tibetan gong, and the alpine bell, this instrument—made from two welded, nitrided steel shells—radiates vibrational waves in every direction. Each tone field is tuned according to a three-part ratio (fundamental, octave, fifth), delivering a sound spectrum rich in harmonics that calms the mind more effectively than lullabies or birdsong. Music therapists recommend it for building "audio healing" playlists alongside melotherapy and sound-massage sessions in wellness centres. Unlike harsh ultrasonic frequencies, the handpan produces pleasant, reassuring tones that feel accessible from the very first note. You can also combine several models with complementary scales to deepen the soundscape. Tune your mind to the serenity of the handpan and order your instrument today for a uniquely immersive experience.

Legendary player Alexandre Lora offers masterclasses dedicated to the handpan in several European studios, including those in Berlin and Barcelona. A specialist in advanced techniques such as the "roll," "muting," and "harmonics," he shares his methods, developed over more than fifteen years of stage and studio practice. During these interactive sessions, you’ll explore hand coordination, rhythmic patterns, and ways to expand melodic motifs. These classes are often recorded and available for replay, accompanied by detailed video analysis. Participants receive a digital booklet outlining the exercises, as well as access to a private forum to connect with the artist and other enthusiasts. Even beginner musicians can benefit from these lessons, because Alexandre knows how to adapt his content to all levels, from novice to expert. These masterclasses are organized by local associations or festivals, such as HangOut UK, and allow participants to try out different instrument models provided on site. Discover the roots of the handpan in the original steelpans
Before the Hang, the history of the handpan began in Trinidad and Tobago, where residents, deprived of drums in the early 1900s, struck oil barrels to invent the first modern steelpans in 1944. It was in these improvised "Pan Yards" in Port of Spain that a young Ellie Mannette, the future "father of the modern steelpan," crafted notes tuned by ear. His desire to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" pushed him to experiment with different fundamental and harmonic frequencies. In the 1960s, Winston Spree Simon introduced the compound fifth, enriching the sound palette. These techniques inspired Félix Rohner and Sabina Schärer, who, after making steelpans in Switzerland since 1976, collaborated with Reto Weber in 1999 to create the Hang. This precursor to the handpan adopted the principle of a 1:2:3 ratio between the fundamental, octave, and fifth. If you dream of continuing this innovative tradition, purchase a handpan and immerse yourself in over a century of musical history.
