Let the handpan’s sound resonate through your life—starting now with this classic model!
Treat yourself to a handpan, a percussion instrument that has become a classic among musicians
When it comes to handpans, the most traditional, timeless model is the one designed by PANArt in the early 2000s. Made from nitrided steel, it featured a central note called the ding, surrounded by several other notes arranged in a circle. This handpan faithfully recreates those specs in an elegant, understated way, with an extra touch of character thanks to its purple finish with warm brown undertones. Available with 9, 10, or 12 notes and tuned to either 440 or 432 Hz, it’s crafted from carefully selected, high-quality nitrided steel to deliver rich, balanced harmonics—true to the spirit of the early PANArt instruments. A genuine work of craftsmanship, you’ll love every note as you gently tap the metal with your hands. Choose this classic-style handpan and treat yourself today!

Explore the unique history of the handpan and discover the Panacea festival
In 2012, Hang and handpan player Klaïm laid the foundations for the first national gatherings in France with the “Rendez-vous du Hang,” paving the way for the very first Panacea festival in 2013 in Paris. Passionate for over 15 years, Klaïm even composed the music for the film La Vie d’Adèle, winner of the 2013 Palme d’Or, and dreamed of bringing together amateurs and professionals around this instrument. These early editions, held in unique venues such as urban parks and rural farms, brought together dozens of musicians for workshops, improvised jams, and open-air concerts. Panacea made history in France by providing a setting conducive to exchange and improvisation. Building on this success, numerous festivals such as HANGAOUT and the Handpan Festival de Sauvian have sprung up. Lightweight and compact, your handpan will allow you to join these events and share your passion in a friendly atmosphere. Immerse yourself in the Panacea adventure—order your instrument today.
Insist on the authentic PANArt Hang for your moments of zen
The original PANArt Hang, designed in 2000 by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer in Bern, marks the starting point of the handpan. Made from two welded nitrided steel half-shells, it owes its name to the word “Hang,” which means “hand” in the Bernese dialect, emphasizing the importance of playing by hand. To preserve its exclusivity, its creators asked buyers to write a letter explaining their motivation and stopped production in 2014, making a brand-new Hang virtually impossible to find. This unique instrument, combining the influences of the Asian gong, the Indian ghatam, and the alpine bell, generates three frequencies per note (fundamental, octave, and fifth) to induce a state of deep relaxation. Used in music therapy and art therapy, it promotes muscle relaxation and inner peace. Modern artisans, such as those selected by Instruments du Monde in France, still hammer each note by hand, guaranteeing artisanal quality and authentic sound. Treat yourself to this exceptional sound experience and order your legendary instrument.
Immerse yourself in the fight to protect the handpan
In September 2020, Handpan Community United (HCU) was created to protect the craft in response to PANArt’s legal actions. This organization brings together more than 1,000 members—manufacturers, musicians, and enthusiasts—and works with the law firm Bird & Bird to defend artisans in the Netherlands and Europe. Following Ayasa’s conviction in the first instance in early 2020, HCU launched a crowdfunding campaign in mid-October 2020 to cover the legal costs of the infringement proceedings. It is also working with experts to develop a usage charter that will allow musicians to continue presenting their handpans in concerts, workshops, and online videos without legal risk. This movement advocates for the preservation of the term “handpan,” discovered on Handpan.org by Kyle Cox in 2007, and encourages the sharing of the tuning secrets of Pang, the nitrided steel alloy pioneered by PANArt. Every donation helps to ensure free access to these instruments and to support new artisans. Take action and order your handpan today to support this collective cause.
Discover the ancestor of the handpan, the Hang by PANArt
The handpan originated in 2000 with the creation of the Hang by PANArt, a Swiss duo composed of Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer in Bern. The term “handpan,” a direct descendant of this pioneering instrument, officially appeared in 2009. As its name suggests, it is played with bare hands and produces no wrong notes thanks to its hammered steel structure arranged around the central “ding” and 7 to 8 peripheral dimples. The handpan has become the go-to instrument for yoga, meditation, and music therapy enthusiasts thanks to its soothing vibrations and intuitive design. You can explore its craftsmanship in specialized workshops, discover its “ding side” and “gu side,” or rent a model to test different pentatonic scales. Artists such as Kabeção and Adrian J Portia share their performances on YouTube, inspiring thousands of players. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced player, or simply seeking a new musical horizon, get your handpan and start your sound journey today.
