Did you love Steven Spielberg’s iconic film Jurassic Park? Want to learn the movie’s main theme on your kalimba? Perfect! With sheet music and tablature designed specifically for the thumb piano, you’ll be able to play this piece easily and dive right back into the world of dinosaurs.

Let’s jump into these kalimba sheet music pages right away.

An important point to consider before tackling the Jurassic Park sheet music

You’ll find that the Jurassic Park kalimba sheet music is generally very accessible, even for beginners. But that doesn’t mean you should neglect your instrument. It’s strongly recommended that you tune your kalimba regularly. If you skip this step, we can’t guarantee that your kalimba’s tines will match the notes they’re supposed to produce and, as a result, that the melody you play will sound in tune.

If you’re new to reading music, or if it’s been a while, our helpful tutorial explains how to read kalimba sheet music so you can understand exactly what to do and avoid mistakes when learning the song.

Who composed the main theme for the film Jurassic Park?

Composer John Williams wrote the main theme, as well as the nine other tracks featured on the soundtrack of the 1993 film Jurassic Park. Williams, who is also a conductor and pianist, is best known for composing a huge number of film scores, especially for movies directed by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. You can hear John Williams’ work in the Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jaws franchises.

Born in 1932 in New York, John Williams began learning piano at the age of 7 and devoted his studies to the instrument. He composed several jazz pieces before moving into television work in the early 1960s. His collaborations with Steven Spielberg in the 1970s, and later with George Lucas, led him to write some of his most celebrated music, now recognized worldwide. Today, John Williams is widely regarded as one of the greatest film composers of all time.

What is the difference between Jurassic Park and Jurassic World?

Jurassic World is actually a sequel to Jurassic Park—the fourth film in the series—set 22 years later. The year after Jurassic Park III hit theatres in 2001, Steven Spielberg announced that a fourth installment was being considered. Originally scheduled for release in 2005, Jurassic Park 4 was postponed several times, first due to script changes, then following the successive deaths of Stan Winston, who helped bring the animatronic dinosaurs to life, and Michael Crichton, author of the novels that inspired Jurassic Park. While the project seemed to be on hold, Universal Pictures announced in 2013 that a sequel would indeed be made. It was released in 2015 under the title Jurassic World.

It should also be noted that a sequel to Jurassic World was released in 2018 under the name Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and another installment was planned for 2022. It would be titled Jurassic World: Dominion and directed by Colin Trevorrow, bringing the total number of feature films to six.

However, you won’t be able to play the piece in full unless you have a kalimba with at least 21 tines. With a 17-note model, some notes won’t be available, which will affect the overall sound.
