Who composed the music for Your Name?

All of the songs in the feature film Your Name were composed by the Japanese rock band Radwimps. The band consists of four members: singer Yƍjirƍ Noda and musicians Akira Kuwahara, Yusuke Takeda, and Satoshi Yamaguchi. Formed in 2001 by five friends from the same high school, Radwimps gave their first concert in 2002 in the Japanese city of Yokohama. In 2004, the band’s line-up changed when some members decided to leave, resulting in the line-up we know today.

Regularly releasing albums and singles, the band was chosen in 2016 by director Makoto Shinkai to compose the soundtrack for his next animated feature film, Your Name, or Kimi no Na wa in Japanese. The full soundtrack was released as an album with the same name as the film. With over 300,000 copies sold in Japan, it remains Radwimps’ biggest success to date. In 2019, the band collaborated with Makoto Shinkai once again to compose the soundtrack for another animated film called Weathering With You. It is one of the highest-grossing films in Japanese cinema.
