Discover the history and legends surrounding Tibetan singing bowls

The Tibetan singing bowl is a deeply mysterious instrument, and countless pages have been written about its origins. Over the centuries, many legends have emerged—especially since, to this day, no definitive written record has been found documenting this sound tool. The most famous story claims that Tibetan monks used singing bowls in secret rituals to access other spiritual dimensions. These accounts were also popularised by authors such as Rain Gray and Aman Shahi. According to them, Tibetan lamas—guardians of the singing bowls—fled during the 20th-century Chinese invasion. During their escape, they were forced to sell their precious bowls to survive. This is how an instrument once kept relatively hidden is said to have spread across the world. Treat yourself to a Tibetan bowl and become part of its story.

The healing properties of Thadobati singing bowls for your chakras

Singing bowls are sometimes called Thadobati bowls, an older name dating back several centuries. These instruments are known for their effects on the body’s chakras, which is why quartz crystal bowls are tuned to a specific musical note. Each note is associated with one of the major chakras. For example, a singing bowl tuned to C is often chosen to balance Muladhara, the root chakra located at the base of the spine. By focusing on the energy centre you want to work on while striking the Tibetan bowl regularly, the instrument’s vibrations can act deeply on that chakra. Experience the therapeutic benefits of Thadobati bowls and add them to your meditation sessions to support chakra balance today.
