About three years ago, I stumbled upon one of their filmed sessions, an hour of music posted on YouTube on a weeknight. I especially enjoyed it. Since then, I’ve been following their releases and concert dates very closely, which now allows me to share the story of these two musicians with you.

Behind the name Chantress Seba are two people, not a solo singer. They are Gemini Fowler on vocals and Finn Milburn on handpan and guitar, with Milburn also producing their recordings. The two musicians are married and have been a couple for eleven years. They live in Leeds, in northern England. As for their background, Gemini Fowler was born in the United Kingdom and identifies as having African, Indian, and Celtic ancestry.
The two artists met in high school around the mid-2010s, occasionally taking music classes together. As they got to know each other, they began dating at a fairly young age. Their musical backgrounds are quite different. Gemini Fowler explains that she grew up in an extremely musical family: her mother was a singer and dancer, her father a DJ, her grandfather a DJ, her uncle a bassist, and her grandfather sang in church. She listened especially to Paramore, The Killers, and Fall Out Boy. Finn Milburn, on the other hand, grew up with punk before becoming interested in indie music and music production.
As it turns out, the Chantress Seba project isn’t at all the style they started out with when making music. In fact, around 2018, the two artists began with the “Gemini Aaliyah” project, which leaned more toward a dark alternative style, with an aesthetic that Gemini Fowler herself described as “ghetto goth.” Finn Milburn was already her producer and musical partner at the time. It wasn’t until June 2023 that Chantress Seba’s first video finally appeared on YouTube, showing the duo singing and playing guitar. Soon after, the guitar was occasionally replaced by a tongue drum, another percussion instrument. Chantress Seba’s first video featuring a handpan dates back to December 2023. They have been producing these videos regularly ever since. However, it seems the idea took shape slightly earlier, since the Chantress Seba trademark filing mentions its first use on April 30, 2023, through their company Spirit Sound Ltd.
From that point on, their direction changed very clearly: vocal improvisation, mantras, meditation, guitar, handpan, harmonium, and long performances filmed in nature. They cite shamanic and Indigenous influences, with a particular emphasis on the spiritual traditions of South America. Gemini Fowler most often sings without words on their tracks, in what the duo calls a language of channeled light. As for their stage name, nothing official has been confirmed by the group, but here’s what I’ve personally deduced. “Chantress” refers to a female singer. “Seba” is an ancient Egyptian word meaning “star.” Since their very first posts, Chantress Seba has consistently introduced themselves with the phrase “Singer of the Stars.” So I think my little personal theory is correct.
By consistently posting videos on YouTube and other social platforms, the group’s popularity has grown tremendously, reaching over one million subscribers and becoming one of the best-known handpan duos alongside MEA. In addition, this duo is not limited to the stage. They also lead ceremonies and individual sound therapy sessions. They also perform in the yoga world, notably at the Yoga United Festival in Germany. Second, the mantras Om Gam, Om Shanti Om, Hare Krishna, and Om So Hum, which the singer repeats in loops. The duo presents these frequencies as capable of affecting the listener, even though no scientific study has validated this theory. Is it possible to see this handpan duo in concert?
To find out their tour dates, the easiest way is to follow them on social media or follow the agency that represents them, Midnight Mango. Note that this isn’t their first European performance, since they were already playing in May 2025 at Kirche Neumünster in Zurich, Switzerland. However, the only date for which the press has published a review is the concert held at Troxy in London on November 20, 2025, in front of a sold-out crowd for three hours, with Malte Marten as a special guest. Finally, it’s worth noting that these aren’t truly concerts in the traditional sense, since the performances include a significant amount of improvisation. Don’t expect to hear exactly the same melody from one event to the next.
