Enjoy the rhythm a percussionist can create on this instrument
Bring a touch of magic to your everyday life with the handpan, an innovative, drum-like instrument!
Drum along with your hands on this beautiful handpan
The handpan is sometimes called a drum by newcomers when they see how percussionists play it. And itâs true: those repeated, rhythmic strikes definitely feel drum-like. However, unlike a drum, the handpan has no skin or membrane. Itâs made entirely of metal that vibrates and resonates when the player taps, glides, and brushes their hands across it. This 10-note model is crafted from high-quality stainless steel and finished with a beautiful blue hue that shifts toward purple. The whole pieceâboth sonic and visual artâcan even evoke a starry night sky. It also comes with a pair of sticks, so you can play it more like a drum, a drum kit, or a snare drum. Fall in love with this beautiful handpan and make it part of your musical everyday life.

Discover the influence of the ghatam and steelpan on the creation of the handpan
The history of the handpan, as told by Felix Rohner and Sabina SchĂ€rer, its two main creators, begins in 1999 when Swiss musician Reto Weber visited PANArt in Bern to have his out-of-tune steelpan retuned. During the process, a conversation sparked between Weber and the Rohner/SchĂ€rer duo. The percussionist shared an idea for a brand-new instrument: an Indian ghatam, but made entirely of steel instead of the terracotta traditionally used for over 1,200 years. The idea was compelling, and PANArt spent almost a year crafting the first Hangâwhich would later evolve into the handpan. Bring home a handpan and explore these sounds from elsewhere.
Immerse yourself in the world of the handpan, an easy-to-play instrument
The first thing many beginners say when they play the handpan is, âWait⊠even I can play melodies like this?â Yes: the handpan is incredibly intuitive, even for someone who has never studied music theory or played an instrument before. The zigzag layout of the notesâand the fact that the maker has already tuned them to a harmonious scaleâmakes it much easier for newcomers, who often feel like theyâve grown wings as they gently strike the metal. Private lessons are also available to support your learning. Donât miss the opportunity to bring this melodic instrument into your daily lifeâorder your handpan today.
Discover the influence of handpan sounds on physical and mental health
In recent years, more and more studies and research have been conducted by doctors and scientists to determine whether music and instruments can have any influence on mental and physical health. The initial results are very encouraging, which is why music therapy has been growing in popularity ever since. The handpan has joined the ranks of traditional instruments such as gongs and Tibetan bowls, which are used in sound therapy. It turns out that blood pressure and stress may decrease when a person listens closely to the acoustic vibrations of these instruments. Discover for yourself how the handpan can enrich your wellness and relaxation practice.
Experience the handpanâs vibrations at festivals such as HANGAOUT and PANradis
Over the past couple of decades, the handpan has continued to grow in popularity. Thatâs true both among makersâwho keep offering more and more models to satisfy even the most demanding playersâand among the festive gatherings built around this flying saucer-shaped sound object. Indeed, handpan festivals and concerts seem to be popping up everywhere around the world. For example, the famous HANGAOUT festival created by Klaim, as well as a handpan festival nicknamed by some as "PANradis," were established around 2020. One of the best parts of these gatherings is that you can bring your own instrument, thanks to how easy it is to transport.
