Because it feels only natural to share our passion for music with those who donât have access to it, Instruments du Monde is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations that work to bring music to people who need it most. Read on to see how weâre taking action.
Our solidarity initiatives and sponsorship programs
A shared goal: making music accessible to all

Faced with inequalities in access to culture and music education, it felt obvious to take concrete action so that music is no longer a privilege, but a real possibility for everyone. Through our experience in this field, weâve seen just how much music can transform lives, rebuild confidence, create social connections, and offer a unique space for expression, especially for young people and for the most vulnerable members of our society.
Since our business centers on musical instruments, it felt only natural to support projects that put these same instruments into the hands of people who might otherwise never have access to them. Thatâs why we partner with nonprofit organizations committed to this work, through workshops, lessons, and instrument loan programs.
In practical terms, part of our activity supports these initiatives through donations of musical instruments to these various organizations. With every order placed on our website, youâre indirectly helping provide instruments, practice time, and powerful musical experiences to people who are far from it.
Our partnership with the association "Tous Ă la Musique"
Among the projects we support is the association "Tous Ă la Musique". This public-interest organization has been active for over ten years, with the goal of making music accessible to young people who may not otherwise have the means, especially in the Lyon metro area in France.
Now active in several schools through its local chapters, the organization offers music lessons, supervised rehearsals, and group playing time. By providing sliding-scale fees, free instrument loans, and tailored support when needed, the association removes the main barriers to participation so every student can progress at their own pace.

Our partnership with the association "Orchestre Ă lâĂcole"

Orchestre Ă lâĂcole is a French nonprofit (under the 1901 law), recognized as serving the public interest. It oversees and supports the "Orchestre Ă lâĂcole" program: an elementary or middle school class becomes an orchestra, built into the school day, free for families, and inclusive (every student takes part).
The project usually runs for three years, at about two hours per week, and is based on a partnership between the school, an arts education institution (conservatory/music school), and the local government. From the very start, the association helps finance instrument sets and supports project leaders with the setup process. It also provides educational resources (repertoire, guides), offers training programs throughout France, and organizes events and artistic partnerships to highlight students, with goals like building self-confidence, teamwork, and cultural openness.
Do these initiatives affect instrument prices?
Not at all. We fully fund these initiatives ourselves. The prices of the musical instruments in our store have nothing to do with our support initiatives. Weâre firmly committed to that.
For us, itâs simply about supporting a cause we believe is a priority in todayâs world and letting you know that a portion of our profits will be used to help improve the daily lives of dozens of people through music.
