Learn to play the zen drum in minutes
Amateur percussionists are truly grateful for the ingenious invention dreamed up by the brilliant mind of Dennis Havlena. His creation of the zen drum, also known as the tongue drum, impressed the public when it was released in 2007. This instrument has helped countless people step into the world of music, sparking passion in beginners and experienced musicians alike. And for one very simple reason: it’s practically impossible to play a wrong note on this type of instrument. The metal tongues are tuned to create a naturally harmonious sound, and they can’t be detuned. Online courses are also available to make learning even easier. It’s an ideal instrument for beginners, offering a relaxing experience with zero hassle. Discover the magic of the tongue drum!
Enjoy the relaxing effects of the zen drum
If you’re looking for a truly soothing moment of calm, the zen drum is a wonderful choice. Musicians who enjoy meditative percussion often find real happiness playing it. Thanks to the pleasant, unique vibrations it produces, the tongue drum is also recommended for creating a stress-free sound break in your day. It invites you to relax and unwind in a way few instruments can. You’ll have the chance to enjoy a quiet moment, just for yourself. A recent scientific study even highlighted its potential to support cognitive skills, which adds to its many benefits for mental and physical well-being. Some players even believe it can help purify the aura. Make room for creativity and positivity—choose the tongue drum!
Discover the American roots of the tongue drum
It turns out that the tongue drum is the brainchild of Dennis Havlena, who drew inspiration from other American instruments while developing it. His project was largely based on the Whale Drum, created by Jim Doble. In the 1990s, Doble developed an instrument inspired by an Aztec slit drum, replacing the solid wood body with a metal resonator. In 2007, Dennis Havlena, a Michigan resident, followed in Jim Doble’s footsteps by building a new, more modern version of the Whale Drum. He named it the tongue drum and helped popularize it through demonstration videos on YouTube. This drew in many musicians—and it still does today. Play beautiful music rooted in American musical traditions with this excellent instrument!
Create new melodies with the portable zen drum
If you’re a musician who values portability and durability, the zen drum belongs at the top of your list. Its features come together perfectly to meet those needs. From the very beginning, the tongue drum was made to be lightweight and compact, offering total freedom of movement for the artists who play it. Travel lovers will especially appreciate this exotic instrument, which is still fairly rare today. Dennis Havlena’s idea was to give musicians the freedom to express their talent anywhere. Discover an instrument with truly exceptional sound with this zen drum!
