Rock Crystal Singing Bowl

Explore the connections between singing bowls and the Chinese instruments nao and rin

Although singing bowls are traditionally associated with Tibet or Nepal, it turns out that certain other Asian percussion instruments such as the nao and rin are very similar. On the one hand, the nao is a Chinese instrument that is believed to have originated during the Shang dynasty (16th–11th centuries BCE). It is shaped like a bell and is made entirely of bronze, just like ancient Tibetan bowls. Like the latter, the nao was used in religious ceremonies. On the other hand, the rin is a Japanese instrument that was also used in Buddhist temples. It is similar in shape to a Tibetan bowl but much larger, with some examples exceeding 3 ft (1 m) in diameter. Research, such as that conducted by Perceval Landon and Frank Perry, shows that these instruments probably influenced the design of singing bowls. You too can experience part of the Tibetan bowl’s heritage by making it vibrate as much as you like.

Use the Tibetan singing bowl to enjoy its scientifically proven benefits

According to ancient Asian beliefs, Tibetan bowls are sound tools said to offer countless benefits. But what’s the reality? That’s what doctors and researchers have been trying to better understand in recent years. In 2022, a German study showed that sound massages performed using several singing bowls led to a significant reduction in brain activity. It therefore seems that this instrument makes it easier to relax. In 2016, the University of San Diego highlighted the fact that sound meditation with Tibetan bowls can improve mood and reduce blood pressure. At this stage, studies tend to suggest that Tibetan singing bowls could significantly reduce stress. Treat yourself to this unique experience and let the vibrations of the Tibetan singing bowl support you in your daily life.

Relive the history of Drepung Monastery with a singing bowl

Drepung Monastery, located at the foot of Mount Gephel in Lhasa, was founded in 1416 and was the largest of all Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Within this place of worship lies a priceless treasure: a singing bowl said to have belonged to a previous incarnation of the Buddha—at least, that’s what the legend claims. The story goes that whoever uses it can see their karma through the sound produced by the percussion instrument. While modern Tibetan singing bowls don’t claim such mystical powers, they are still prized for relaxation and deepening meditation practice. Many users also find them helpful for releasing blocked energies and cultivating inner peace. Immerse yourself in this centuries-old tradition—order your own Tibetan bowl today.

Discover the importance of the 432 Hz and 440 Hz frequencies for your chakras

Although no studies have been able to prove these theories, some musicians and health practitioners praise the benefits of 432 Hz for mental and physical well-being. International tuning standards typically use A=440 Hz. However, sound therapy practitioners often prefer 432 Hz, believing it’s more in harmony with nature and vital energy. The musical note selected for your Tibetan singing bowl is also important, as it will determine the energy center most directly supported by the instrument’s vibrations. So choose carefully, as it can make a real difference. Take a personalized approach to balancing your chakras and choose a Tibetan singing bowl tuned to the frequency that suits you best.
