Bring your musical imagination to life with this percussion instrument

Add a touch of Romanian and Romani (Gypsy) inspiration to your compositions with this Romanian Hijaz handpan!

Express yourself musically with a handpan tuned to the Romanian Hijaz scale

The Romanian Hijaz scale, as its name suggests, draws inspiration from Romanian musical traditions and Romani culture, with a hint of Middle Eastern colour. As a result, it’s quite distinct from the standard “Hijaz” and offers a rich sonic palette, giving percussionists plenty of room to explore and express themselves. Romanian Hijaz also has tremendous potential to make listeners dream. Its nostalgic yet radiant atmosphere quickly pulls you into the musician’s world. Romanian Hijaz handpans feature nine notes tuned to E or F sharp, so you can choose the one that resonates with you. Treat yourself to an intense moment of musical pleasure and fall in love with this exceptional percussion instrument.

Release your emotional blockages with the vibrations of the handpan

In sound healing, therapists consider the handpan a powerful tool for releasing emotional blockages and restoring inner balance. Derived from the Hang, invented in 2000 by Felix Rohner and Sabrina Schärer, this instrument consists of two convex steel shells welded together. Each strike generates a vibration that spreads through the body, activating energy centres and releasing accumulated tension. Thanks to the 1:2:3 ratio of frequencies—fundamental tone, octave, and fifth—the sounds of the handpan restore the body’s natural frequency and promote a lasting sense of well-being. Practitioners sometimes pair these sounds with breathing techniques or massage to amplify their effect. Whether you use it in one-on-one sessions, in groups, or through videos, this instrument creates a safe space to express and transform emotions. Discover how this deep sound-healing tool can help ease stress and support mental harmony, and order your handpan to begin your journey of release.

Create without music theory or composing experience

Many musicians hesitate to get started because they’re afraid they don’t know music theory or don’t have a “composer’s soul.” With the handpan, those barriers disappear: the instrument is designed so every note sounds right, without any theoretical knowledge. You can start improvising right away and build your own repertoire at your own pace. Unlike some instruments that take years to learn, the handpan encourages spontaneous creativity. Even if you’re a beginner, you can create mesmerizing melodies by blending rhythm and harmony, simply by following the circular layout of the notes. Specialized teachers, such as David Charrier, can guide you as you deepen your playing and turn your improvisations into structured compositions. Compose intuitively without music theory or prior experience and let your sensitivity lead your first creations. Order your handpan today to unlock your inspiration and discover a new side of your creativity.

Experience the Wild Naya Academy and authentic creative nature

The Wild Naya Handpan Summer Academy welcomes you to the heart of a nature community in Germany, a place dedicated to artistic expression and relaxation. Each day begins with a dip in nature at a natural swimming pool located twenty minutes away on foot (or five minutes by car), followed by handpan workshops led by renowned makers in large, light-filled creative rooms. A wellness area with a sauna and massages lets you recharge between sessions. Here, authenticity is celebrated: the place is far from perfect and invites you to embrace imperfection as a driver of creativity. After the workshops, improvised jams around a campfire and sound meditation circles encourage intuition and connection with yourself. The friendly, creative atmosphere in the heart of nature will enhance your playing and remind you that the handpan, light and portable, can be taken anywhere to unleash your imagination. Reserve your handpan and experience this timeless week.

Discover the numbered and signed authenticity of the original Hang

The handpan’s story began with the Hang, and each first-generation model was unique. The creators signed and serialized every instrument, attesting to its place in a limited artisan line of approximately 5,000 pieces produced between 2001 and 2005. The term Hang, which means both “hand” and “hill” in the Bernese dialect, evokes the convex shape of the instrument. The first Hanghangs measured about 52 cm (20.5 in) across and 24 cm (9.5 in) tall and featured eight fields of notes around the ding, arranged in a zigzag pattern. The ding was carefully polished to reflect the light and resemble the stars. Distribution was so exclusive that buyers sent handwritten letters and waited months for an appointment in Bern. By embracing this unique history, you gain access to a world of sound rich in emotion and symbolism. Invest in a handpan and continue this tradition of quality and authenticity.
